The name alone is a lyrical testament to one of the most popular outdoor musical gatherings in Crested Butte. For more than a dozen years the Crested Butte Center for the Arts has brought music to the mountains. All you need to bring is a blanket and champagne.
For 14 summers, the Crested Butte Center for the Arts has entertained locals and visitors alike with its free outdoor concert series, Alpenglow.
Held on the center's outdoor stage (606 6th St., along Highway 135) on Monday evenings, from late June to early August, the music begins at 5:30 p.m. but never really leaves your head. Pack a picnic, bring lawn chairs and blankets, and enjoy the talents of top-notch entertainers from Colorado, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Kansas City and British Columbia.
This year, the Center is expanding the evenings on the lawn with kids playing, adults enjoying a glass of wine, all relishing diverse music to the backdrop of rosy peaks. Seven, instead of four, free concerts will be held this summer. Try to make at least one. For more information visit http://www.crestedbuttearts.org
