A vacation to Central Oregon provides opportunities for golfing, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, river rafting, and a chance to enjoy the spectacular scenery for which the area is known.

Central Oregon is one of the friendliest two-wheel regions in North America, from sweeping singletrack descents to heart-bursting road rides. Bicycling Magazine ranked it in its Top Five places to ride a few years ago. A combination of cool, Ponderosa pine-scented mountain air, uncrowded roads and trails, and easy access right from the center of town make Bend a great place to ride. Bike rentals are available at the base lodge every day.

The Deschutes National Forest boasts over a thousand miles of single and double-track trails, and the Cascade Lakes Highway is a great favorite for racing/randonneur type road riding.

One of the best rides in the area is an all-downhill 'shuttle' called The Paulina Plunge that starts at the caldera rim of the Newberry Volcano, just south of Bend. During the length of the ride, you will descend over 2,500 vertical feet. Coasting down the smooth dirt forest trail, you will be close to the sparkling waterfalls of Paulina Creek. Your visit will include four waterfalls and two safe, natural waterslides to explore and play in. Reservations can be made by calling 800-296-0562 or logging on to http://www.paulinaplunge.com.
