Breckenridge Celebrates Kingdom Days

Summit_history.jpg

Founded in 1859, Breckenridge was inadvertently left off the official U.S. maps and became known as "Colorado's Kingdom" through the Civil War and on until 1936 when it was finally incorporated. Kingdom Days will celebrate this aspect of Breckenridge's history as well as gold fields and mining, exploration and adventure, brothels and saloons, booms and busts. Be a part of Breckenridge history during the first celebration of Kingdom Days.

Celebrating 148 years of Breckenridge history, this two-day event is a fun, interactive way to learn about the unique, local heritage, as well as life during the boom of the gold rush. Held June 14-15, it's a great way to spend Father's Day weekend.

Activities for the whole family include mine tours, gold panning, historic walking tours of the town, old-time arts & crafts, a historic parade of homes, strolling characters in period costume, storytelling, National Repertory Orchestra concerts, old-time photos, outhouse races and more.
