Good picnic sites are found at Kent Pond, near the bottom of Killington Road on Route 100, north and across the highway in Gifford Woods State Park; at Chittendon Reservoir in Chittendon, Vt. and, in Echo Lake State Park, in Plymouth, Vt., where there's a lake, swimming beach, barbecue set-ups, playground and a snack bar.
