The Pocono 500 is the first of two stock car races held at the Pocono Raceway, on the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series; the other is the Pennsylvania 500. Experience the thrill of speed in the Pocono Mountains, at Long Pond, Pennsylvania.

The Pocono 500 (on June 6-8 this season) replaced a 400-mile race at Texas World Speedway on NASCAR's schedule beginning with the 1982 season. Ever since, this challenging, controversial, and unique raceway has seen its fair share of championship-level paint-trading.

Both the Pocono 500 and Pennsylvania 500 (on August 3 this season) are unique in that they have no title sponsor, a decision made by track management in response to feedback from fans. Neither race has had a title sponsor since 1996. Likewise, Pocono Raceway is one of few NASCAR tracks not owned by a major corporation.

Between races, Pocono Raceway also hosts car and motorcycle clubs, and racing schools. For more information, visit http://www.poconoraceway.com.
