Big Sky Resort commands a scenic mountain location perched near Yellowstone National Park. For that reason, the resort makes a convenient base camp for exploring Montana mountains plus the geysers of the park.

The Basecamp to Yellowstone package starts at $116 per person per night. Lodging for the package is based on double occupancy in the Whitewater Inn, which sits on Highway 191 a few blocks south of the Big Sky Resort turnoff. Huntley Lodge, located a short walk from Big Sky's scenic lift ride, is also an accommodations option for the package.

The package includes two activities - one at Big Sky Resort and one in Yellowstone. Big Sky features a scenic lift ride, and a guided tour ushers you through the national park.

You can take Big Sky's lift round-trip or enjoy the scenery more by hiking back down to the village on the resort's new self-guided nature trail. The lift operates daily 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from mid-June through early October.

The west entrance to Yellowstone National Park is located 45 minutes south of Big Sky. For the Yellowstone tour, you'll be picked up at your lodging accommodations and toured by naturalists through Yellowstone. You'll see both geysers and wildlife on the tour.
