Killington Music Festival Plays Into August; Get Package Deal

The Killington Music Festival enters its 27th season with evening concerts and packages that start at $46 for lodging and tickets from July 1 to Aug. 10.

The Killington Music Festival is billed as the only resident professional classical music organization in central Vermont, with performances by faculty and invited guest artists making the festival a mainstay of summer culture in the Killington Region.

Package Details: Minimum one-night lodging and concert tickets for Saturday are required for package rates. Longer stays are available. Rates shown are based on maximum occupancy in an economy condominium (example: four people in a one-bedroom unit) and do not include tax or service fees. Other room types and occupancies are available at varying rates. Rates are based on availability, may vary by season and other restrictions may apply. Rates and dates are for the summer 2009 season and are subject to change without notice.

Artistic Director and cellist Allison Eldredge has been soloist with the New York Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, and Boston Pops to name a few, and is a member of the Boston Trio.

The schedule for concerts, which begin at 7 p.m. at Ramshead Lodge at Killington Resort, is as follows.

July 3: Made In America. Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, Benjamin Franklin's own string quartet and works composed in America.

July 11: Small Symphonies. Brahms celebrated string sextet, Dvorak's E flat major piano quartet and other popular chamber works.

July 18: Schubert & The Gypsies. Colorful music inspired by the music of Gypsies will be performed and KMF's Trio in Residence, The Boston Trio, plays the famous Schubert B-flat major trio.

July 25: The Four Seasons. Vivaldi's greatest hit, The Four Seasons, will be performed by the Killington Music Festival Orchestra, made up of both artist-faculty and students, conducted by Max Levinson, along with other masterpieces.

Aug. 1: Musical Tributes. A program including Beethoven's Archduke Trio, dedicated to his sponsor and patron, the Archduke Rudolph.

Aug. 8: Twelve Strings. A magical evening of music in the sky at Killington Peak.
