High Falls Gorge, located a few miles south on Route 86 between Grand View and the village, is a breathtaking 30-minute walk that takes you into one of the last remaining Climax Forests in the United States where the AuSable River falls 300 feet down ancient granite cliffs. Or, head 23 miles north on Route 9 and visit the AuSable Chasm, which has been called "the Grand Canyon of the East." You can walk its two-mile rim trail or take a float by raft or tube through a maze of stunning rock formations sculpted by river currents over millions of years. The village of Lake Placid and all the wonderful amenities it has to offer - shopping, dining, culture, history and an Olympic venue - are also close by.
