Calling all horse lovers. The annual back-to-back Lake Placid Horse Show, June 23-29, and I Love New York Horse Show, June 30-July 5, are considered by many to be a couple of the nation's prized stops for the hunter-jumper horse show circuit.  They routinely attract some of the best young riders in the nation and top Olympic veterans.  It's a gathering of families, celebrities, Olympians, and Grand Prix Champions.

The two Grand Prix events, one held each week, are the highlight of the weekly competition and guaranteed to draw Olympic veterans and past champions competing for top honors and a $75,000 purse for each event.  It's a crowd pleaser and exciting for both the avid equestrian and the first time horse show visitor. 

The village of Lake Placid joins the fun with an annual Equestrian Window Decorating Contest to welcome horse show participants, spectators, and shoppers to town.  The traditional Animal Planet Kid's Day takes place July 3 offering activities like stable tours, a jumper course walk, farrier visit, and more. The 17^th annual crowd pleasing Doggie Costume Contest takes place July 4.  

Trail's End Inn, a 1902 Adirondack bed and breakfast nestled in nearby spectacular Keene Valley, is offering rooms from $115 per day, based on double occupancy.  The rate, available through July 30, includes a full hot, home-cooked breakfast daily. It was originally built as an Adirondack Camp and reflects the ambiance and charm of that era.  Surrounded by meadows and mountain peaks and tucked a third-of-a-mile off the highway, the Inn is quiet and secluded.  Hiking trails lead right out the back door that intersects hundred's of miles of marked wilderness trails, yet it's less than 20 miles to the village of Lake Placid and the horse shows.
