Whiteface Mountain is the fifth-highest mountain in New York, and one of the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. Uniquely set apart from most of the other High Peaks, the summit offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the Adirondacks and on a clear day glimpses of Vermont and even Canada.
The Ledge Rock at Whiteface, with deluxe accommodations nestled in a rustic setting on a hill directly across from Whiteface Mountain, offers a couple of different affordable packages that allows you to play on the mountain during your stay. The packages are good through mid-October.
The Discover Whiteface Mountain package, from $117 per person, double occupancy, includes two nights' lodging and your choice of either a drive up the Memorial Highway to the top of Whiteface or a ride up the gondola. The package is available daily through Oct.12.
The Whiteface Mountain Biking Package, from $89 per person, double occupancy, includes a night's lodging and admission to the Whiteface mountain bike park and your choice of uphill transport via the gondola or shuttle bus. The package is available through Oct. 13, except for July 23-27.
Without the package plan gondola rides are $17 per person, and access to Memorial Highway is $9 for vehicle and driver and $5 for each additional passenger. The views from the top are priceless.
Located in the town of Wilmington - about 13 miles from Lake Placid - Whiteface is home to a ski area with the highest vertical drop in the East. It's the only High Peaks mountain with a developed summit and seasonal accessibility by motor vehicle via a toll road.
