Kirkwood Stay And Play Package Spells Fun For Families

Kirkwood's tree-climbing rope course is open every weekend throughout the summer.

Kirkwood's tree-climbing rope course is open every weekend throughout the summer.

Families of four who sign up for one of Kirkwood's Stay and Play packages this summer pay $129 per person for a great weekend getaway deal that includes two nights' lodging on a Friday and Saturday night in one of Kirkwood's one-bedroom condominiums, plus activities bundles for two adults (age 19 years and older) and two children (age 12 years and under).

Each activities bundle includes a lift ticket for access to the extensive network of mountain biking and hiking trails on the mountain, one ride on Kirkwood's zip line, and a full day's access to Kirkwood's ropes course and climbing wall. Mountain bikes, which are not included, can be rented on-site. Stay and Play weekend packages are available starting the weekend of July 4-5, and ending the weekend of Sept. 5-6.

For an uber- fun-filled weekend, plan your visit during one of Kirkwood's summer events: the Annual Firemen's BBQ July 4; the Kirkwood Nine to Five Endurance Mountain Bike Race Aug. 1, during which participants can see how many laps they manage to make around the resort's six-mile, single-track course between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.; the Wildflower Festival, also Aug. 1, which includes tastings of regional wines and beers, live music, displays of local artisans' handiworks, guided hikes, scenic chairlift rides, and an afternoon BBQ on the Village Plaza; and the Thin Air Chili Cookoff at high noon Sept. 5 that involves lots of chili sampling, local beer brewer and winemaker tastings, live music, chairlift rides, and kids' activities.
