The Village at Squaw Valley will be heating up the weekend of Aug. 15-16 with cold brews, cool sounds, and hot bands. The 8th annual Brews, Jazz & Funk Fest provides continuous live music from 2 to 8 p.m. both days, while more than 20 breweries are on pour samples of their beers, including some hard-to-find micro- and macro-brews.
Attendees of the Fest can avail themselves of the Village Events Package, a reduced lodging special that's available during all Village at Squaw Valley summer and fall events. The package starts at $89 per person per night and is based on double occupancy in a studio suite; guests have access to the Village's eight whirlpool spas.
The Blues, Jazz & Funk Fest is free and open to all ages. Beer is $4 a pop. This year's musical acts include Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Karl Nelson's Tiny Universe, the Big Organ Trio, Eric Krasno's Chapter 2, and the Monophonics. This year's tip of the hat to green thinking: beers will be poured into corn-compostable cups during the Fest. Organizers are encouraging people who have attended the Fest in years past to bring and re-use their BJF commemorative glasses.
Proceeds from this year's Fest will once again benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe; last year's event raised more than $20,000 for the organization.
