Description

Golf courses rich in early golf history wind through the woods in the Poconos. Golf is big in these parts, and you'll never be able to play all the available courses in one vacation. Golf courses in the Pocono Mountains range from challenging championship courses designed by such notables as Robert Trent Jones, Geoffrey Cornish, A.W. Tillinghast and Jack Nicklaus, to friendly nine hole facilities. The Poconos are well known as a great golf destination.

Check out the Glen Brook Golf Club (570 421-3680) in Stroudsburg, an exacting 18 hole PGA rated par 72 championship golf course, which was designed in 1924 by the renowned Robert White (first president PGA of America, charter member of American Society of Golf Course Architects). For 6,500 yards. the course winds through a green cathedral of trees and knolls. Clubhouse serving food.

Scottish Glen (570 222-3676) is in Cifford, PA, and offers nine holes of regulation golf.

For some traditional golf, give Water Gap Country Club (570 476-0300) a shot. The 18-hole championship links was built in 1922.
