A few short miles from its celebrated sister mountain, Snowmass buzzes with the same vitality and sun-worshipping fun of Aspen; plus, it boasts its own community. Scenic wilderness surrounds Snowmass so you can completely immerse yourself. You'll find more than 40 miles of hiking and biking trails within this 25-square-mile town. As the only Colorado resort to offer two 18-hole disc golf courses and one of the few places to mountainboard, you'll be (pleasantly) forced to explore its acres.
When you're ready to come down from the hill, Snowmass Village is full of adventure and rejuvenation. Even while relaxing, you may catch glimpses of elk, fox, and deer while dining from the decks of one of Snowmass' 25 restaurants or kicking back at a free outdoor concert. Snowmass is home to one of the best music scenes in the mountains and offers a full line-up of festivals and events for visitors of all ages and interests. Chilifest, Jazz Aspen Snowmass, Young People's Productions, and the Wine and Jazz Fest are just a few of the events that liven the streets.
For rip-roaring howls, visit a weekly Snowmass Rodeo or train for the 12 Hours of Snowmass, a 12-hour mountain bike race on Snowmass Mountain. Choose to ride solo, teams of two, three, or open (up to eight riders). The race sends racers out onto the trails of Snowmass from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. one Saturday in September to raise money for two local nonprofit youth organizations - Aspen Youth Center and Extreme Sports Camp for kids with autism.
Snowmass Village is pure mountain town. Steeped in ranching history, defined by its scenic mass, flanked by charming boutiques, restaurants, and lodges, this town provides the potential for epic mountain tales.
