The secluded Little Tree Bed and Breakfast, 15 minutes north of Taos, has put together its own 2009 Economic Stimulus Plan. Stay two nights and shave 10 percent off the regular room rates of $135 to $195; stay three or four nights and save 15 percent; stay five nights or longer and save 20 percent. This is a win-win proposition because the longer you stay at the Little Tree the more you get to enjoy what is truly a Taos-style escape from the everyday pressures of today's tough economic times.
The Little Tree, an intimate four-room, pueblo-style hacienda near Arroyo Seco run by Gordon and Maggie Johnston, has been praised in New Mexico magazine for its "eye-popping views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains to the east and the Rio Grande Valley to the west" and its "360-degree views" by New Mexico's Best. Equally praised by guests are the Johnstons' hearty breakfasts and their hands-on knowledge of the sights and activities found in and around Taos.
The Little Tree's Stimulus Plan rates are in effect through the end of 2009, with the exception of the Christmas holiday period. Also available through the end of the year is the bed and breakfast's unique Massage for Two by You, a do-it-yourselves supplement for $35 a night that provides a couple with a basket of luxurious lotions and oils, instructional books and videos, a deluxe massage table with Egyptian cotton flannel sheets, and a CD player with pre-selected music.
